▌Akita Prefecture Employment and Labor Policy Division Visits NTU to Discuss Industry-Academia Partnerships!

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) met with the Employment and Labor Policy Division of Akita Prefecture, Japan, as part of efforts to deepen Taiwan–Japan bilateral talent exchange and cooperation, welcoming Policy Advisor Mr. Norihide Suzuki and Section Chief Mr. Taiki Sasaki to NTU this week for a bilateral meeting.

The discussion focused on the potential for NTU to recommend outstanding students for summer internships in industries across Akita Prefecture — aiming to expand the international internship destinations and opportunities available to NTU students. To promote deeper understanding and cooperation, the Akita representatives also introduced the region’s distinctive features and industrial strengths:

Local specialty industries: Akita is renowned for its premium “Akita Komachi” rice, as well as its sake brewing industries.

Technological manufacturing strength: Akita is the hometown of Mr. Kenzo Saito, founder of the global electronic components manufacturer TDK, which maintains key production facilities in the area.

Renewable energy development: With abundant wind resources along its coastal regions, Akita is an ideal location for advancing renewable energy initiatives.

Building on NTU’s extensive experience with the Overseas Internship Program (OIP), the OIA looks forward to channelling new streams of international talent into Akita Prefecture through this collaboration. We believe this partnership will form a strong bridge for Taiwan–Japan talent exchange and create opportunities for NTU students to experience and contribute to Akita’s local industries.
