This is an in-depth exploration that merges marine sustainability with cutting-edge technology! National Taiwan University (NTU), KOZAROCKS and Startup Island Taiwanare partnering to take you deep into Okinawa, Japan—a vibrant living lab for the Blue Economy. The study tour will provide direct insight into advanced marine technology applications, from Strout Inc. (digital aquaculture) to ARK Inc. (decentralized land-based farming systems). You will see firsthand how innovation aims to "create the sea on land," achieving environmental sustainability and resource self-sufficiency. Furthermore, by learning about Project MANATII (a marine debris cleanup rental system) and visiting Okinawa World (Culture Kingdom, Gyokusendo Cave), you will gain a comprehensive understanding of how Okinawa develops responsible tourism and eco-friendly business models while protecting its rich marine and cultural assets.
On the tech innovation front, the itinerary will focus on talent cultivation and industry incubation. You will visit the Innovation Center at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST), an English-speaking institution where over half the faculty and students are non-Japanese and which admits only about 50 PhD students annually. You will interact directly with its incubated teams—Strout Inc., CancerFree, and EF Ploymer—to learn how this top-tier university successfully translates scientific breakthroughs into startup momentum. We will also explore the broader Okinawan innovation ecosystem, including: University of the Ryukyus' incubator Ryulab, the government-corporate partnership IT Innovation and Strategy Center Okinawa (ISCO), and the private accelerator Nagonova. In the dynamic KOZA Startup Arcade, you will meet local startups like Hello World, Ryukyu Mirai, and UmuSun Lab, and understand how they leverage technology and regional distinctiveness to create new economic drivers for Okinawa. This journey offers more than observation; it is a prime opportunity for in-depth dialogue with future tech leaders and for cultivating a global, innovative mindset!
