National Taiwan University’s innovative NTU Beyond Borders initiative was recently featured in The PIE News, a leading global education news platform. The article recognized NTU’s commitment to preparing students as proactive global citizens, equipped to address complex international challenges.

The feature described NTU Beyond Borders as the university’s strategic response to the evolving landscape of global education. By integrating holistic learning, altruistic leadership, and practical action—aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—the initiative provides students with transformative opportunities across three core areas:

  • Student Initiatives – Students are empowered to design and implement their own projects tackling pressing social and environmental issues. Examples include reviving traditional millet cultivation in Taiwan and improving access to primary education in Malawi.
  • Academic Mobility – NTU emphasizes international learning through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), exchange programs, and welcoming inbound students. The article highlighted the 2023 Montana Dinosaur Trail & National Parks Summer Program as a particularly impactful experience.
  • Experiential Learning – Practical, real-world engagement is fostered through the Overseas Internship and Traineeship Program, with placements such as the Wildlife Forensic Academy in South Africa and the NTU x PASONA Traineeship in Japan.
