Rejection Is Not Failure: How One Interview Sparked MirWork, an AI Tool for Job Seekers Everywhere!

After experiencing the frustration of countless interviewswith little feedback, Kevin Hsieh set out to change how candidates prepare forand navigate the hiring process. Drawing on his own challenges applying tocompanies such as Meta, he founded MirWork—short for “Mock Interview Robot”—anAI-powered platform that offers realistic interview simulations, automatedevaluations, and detailed feedback to help job seekers improve theirperformance.

Originally a tool to mentor peers, MirWork has grown into aglobal platform supporting interviews in more than 20 languages across fieldssuch as engineering, data science, and product management. It enablescandidates to practice with different accents and customize interviewscenarios, which helps reduce anxiety and build confidence. Employers alsobenefit by using MirWork to screen candidates more efficiently and to makedecisions based on communication and problem-solving skills rather than solelyon resumes.

Kevin Hsieh believes rejection is not a sign of failure, butoften a matter of fit. With upcoming features tailored for accelerators andlocal markets such as Taiwan, MirWork aims to lower the emotional and timecosts of job seeking—helping more individuals feel prepared, understood, andready for the right opportunities. As NTU continues to strengthen its globalinternship and mentorship programs, platforms like MirWork highlight howtechnology can empower international students and graduates to thrive in diverse,competitive job markets worldwide.
