INTERNSHIP INFO(英文)

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) program is one of the “crown jewels” of Caltech. Since 1979, SURF students have had the opportunity to conduct research under the guidance of experienced mentors who work at the forefront of their fields.

  • Program Schedule
    SURF applications are due on February 22.

Awards will be announced on April 1.

Program Duration: June 16 to August 21, 2026(10週).

  • Eligibility Criteria
  1. Be a continuing undergraduate student and eligible for fall term registration
  2. Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7/4.3
  3. Complete the second semester or third quarter at your college or university
  4. Not to be under any academic or disciplinary sanctions.
  • Funding Amount
    In 2026, Fellows will receive an $8,110 award for the ten weeks.
  • Funding Options

Option 1: Fully funded by the Caltech mentor; or

Option 2: Half funded by the BaBar-SURF Fund (administered by the SURF Program Office; NTU may nominate 8–10 students) and half funded by the Caltech mentor.

  • BaBar-SURF Fund Support Description
    If selected for BaBar-SURF Fund support, half of the program funding will be provided by the BaBar-SURF Fund, and the mentor will cover the other half. When contacting potential mentors, you may share the NTU webpage with them so they can refer to the BaBar-SURF Fund information. (Please note: due to domain restrictions, the webpage is accessible only within the Caltech network.)

All applicants must contact a Caltech mentor directly as instructed on the program website and obtain the mentor’s agreement to supervise. After securing a mentor, applicants must complete the online application by February 22, 2026.

Please combine the following documents into one PDF file (file name: Student ID + Full Name) and email it to jeffreyhuang@ntu.edu.tw by February 1, 2026:

The list of recommended candidates is expected to be announced by February 10, 2026. Final admission decisions will be made and announced by Caltech.


Note: The research proposal submitted to the OIA does not need to be the final version used for the SURF online application. You may submit the version discussed with your Caltech mentor at the time of submission, and please indicate whether your mentor can provide full funding.
