萊斯大學MACHI計畫是由美國萊斯大學河野淳一郎教授（Prof. Junichiro Kono）為理工專長（STEM領域：Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics）之優秀大學學士班女學生所設計的研習計畫，包含線上課程以及為期5週的短期研究實習，計畫主旨在介紹美國高等教育、文化交流體驗，並開拓學生世界觀與理工相關研究經驗，啟發學生未來立志於科研工作。

註：此計畫亦有與日本的大學合作，稱之為TOMODACHI-Dow Women’s STEM Leadership and Research Program

2026年2月9日至3月13日：實地研究
地點：萊斯大學
加入美國的研究實驗室，由研究生和教授手把手帶領、指導。

• 申請資格

1. 研修上述領域且在學之女學士生。
2. 英語能力托福iBT 90（含）以上或雅思7.0（含）以上。（選繳，若無英文檢定成績，將由萊斯大學安排線上面試）

• 錄取名額
  3名

• 費用與補助

1. 計畫整體費用約為新臺幣240,000元，包含計畫費（5,000美金）機票、交通、保險、食宿、簽證等。
   P.S. 計畫費5,000美金須以銀行電匯方式自行繳納予萊斯大學
2. 本校提供每名學生新臺幣120,000元補助，並於計畫結束返臺後核撥，其餘費用需自行負擔。

2. 萊斯大學線上系統申請：獲推薦者請於7月13日前完成線上申請

1. 個人履歷（英文版， 2頁A4為限）

• 申請方式

1. 申請者應備齊上述申請資料，按順序合併成1個PDF電子檔，檔名設為學號+姓名，於校內申請期限內寄至jeffreyhuang@ntu.edu.tw(國際事務處黃子洋專員，02-3366-2007 #228)，校內審查結果將於7月8日前以email通知所有申請者。
2. 獲本校推薦者請於7月13日前完成線上申請，萊斯大學host professor 於7月23日前安排線上面試，錄取結果將由萊斯大學通知。

P.S. 獲錄取者，若未能提交英語能力證明，將另外安排與萊斯大學Center for Academic and Professional Communication進行英文能力面試

INTERNSHIP INFO(英文)

MACHI Program offers a five-week internship experience tailored to a diverse cohort of female students majoring in STEM in Taiwan. This program's primary goal is to further diminish the gender gap in the STEM fields in Taiwan while advancing educational equity. During the internship, implemented by and hosted at Rice University in0 Houston, Texas, participants delve into the intricacies of international collaboration and engagement between the U.S. and Taiwan. They also receive hands-on exposure to scientific research practices in the U.S. and opportunities for career exploration, English language enrichment, cultural engagement, and collaboration with American students.

Note: This program also collaborates with universities in Japan under the name TOMODACHI-Dow Women’s STEM Leadership and Research Program.

• Eligibility

1. Female undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in one of the above STEM disciplines.
2. English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS 7.0 and above (optional).
   ※ Applicants without a test score will be invited to an online English proficiency interview conducted by Rice University.

• Admission Quota​
  Maximum of 3 students

• Program Cost and Funding

1. Total cost: Approx. NT$240,000, including program fee (USD $5,000), airfare, local transportation, insurance, accommodation, meals, and visa.
   ※ The USD 5,000 program fee must be paid via wire transfer directly to Rice University.
2. NTU Financial Support: NTU will provide NT$120,000 per participant, disbursed after the student returns from the program. Students are responsible for the remaining costs.

• Application Procedure

1. Combine all required documents in the order listed into a single PDF, named "[Student ID]_[Full Name]". Email your application to jeffreyhuang@ntu.edu.tw (Mr. Jeffrey Huang, Office of International Affairs) by July 3, 2025, 4:00 PM. Internal results will be announced by July 8 via email.
2. NTU-nominated candidates must complete the Rice University online application by July 13. Rice University will schedule online interviews with host professors by July 23, and final admissions will be notified directly by Rice.
   ※ Applicants without a TOEFL/IELTS score will be invited to an additional English proficiency interview with the Center for Academic and Professional Communication at Rice.
