Internship I

The Student Summer Research Fellowship Program administered under the Computer Science Department aims to recruit a group of highly motivated undergraduate students from our partner universities to join the faculty-led research groups and conduct research at UChicago in the summer (July and August). During the 8-week program period, each student will spend their work time with one faculty member and their research team to conduct research. In addition, the program will organize group-based team-building activities, workshops, group projects, etc. that will expose students to the larger UChicago academic community.

  4. Program Period: July 1st, 2024 —August 23rd, 2024
  • Admission Quota: Up to 3 students
  • Subsidy Items

The total program cost amounts to approximately USD 5,300, covering expenses such as tuition, housing, meals, insurance, student fees, and program fees.

  1. The University of Chicago offers a subsidy of USD 1,700 per student.
  2. NTU provides subsidies of NTD$ 90,000 for economically disadvantaged students and NT$50,000 for general students.
    Note: Please refer to the criteria for economically disadvantaged students in 希望出航海外見習實習學生獎學金設置要點 and ensure to provide the relevant proofs.
  3. Any remaining expenses are the responsibility of the students themselves.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Undergraduate students with backgrounds in computer science-related fields are eligible to participate in the internship.

Note: For all partner institutes, except Japanese Universities, the program is only open to undergraduate students.

  4. English Requirement (TOEFL/IELTS report, or UChicago AEPA) **Based on the policy for NDVS at the University, to meet the English requirement, we recognize three types of test: TOEFL iBT Speaking (18 or better), IELTS (Speaking score of 6.0 or better), or AEPA (“Basic” level or above).
  • Application Procedure

After completing the online application for the program, please compile all application materials into a single PDF file, including the Candidate Statement, CV/Resume, Undergraduate Transcript, and English proficiency test scores (format: student ID + name). Admission results will be determined by the University of Chicago.

由芝加哥大學Computer Science Department主辦的Summer Research Fellowship Program以招募來自海外合作的姊妹校積極且優秀的大學生為目標,參與由專業教師帶領的研究團隊,在暑期間(7月至8月)於芝加哥大學進行研究,在這8周的計畫期間,每位學生將會加入一位教師和其研究團隊進行研究;此外,還能參與凝聚團隊向心力的活動、工作坊和團體專案等,這些都能讓參與的學生更能夠深入芝加哥大學學術領域的殿堂。

Internship II

Welcome to the UChicago–Taiwan Student Summer Research Program in the Sciences (UCTS)! We initiated this program in 2023 to enhance research collaboration between principal investigators at the University of Chicago and in Taiwan via exchanging visiting students. In the year 2024, our focused areas of research include Physics, Astronomy, and Quantum Science.

  • Program Schedule
  1. The application deadline for the 2023-2024 program is 2/1/2024.
  2. Admission notifications will be sent out in early March 2024.
  3. The ideal duration of a visit for the 2024 summer quarter is 6/10-9/29/2024. (The actual duration of the internship should be discussed and agreed upon with the PI.)

As a recipient of the Fellowship, you will be enrolled in the Non-Degree Visiting Student (NDVS) program for the time you stay at the University of Chicago. the Physical Science Division (PSD) will offer up to 10 fellowships in 2024 to cover the tuition, fees and on-campus housing. Any remaining expenses are the responsibility of the students themselves.

Note: The University of Chicago offers on-campus accommodation from June 5, 2024, to August 17, 2024. If the program extends beyond this period, participants will need to make arrangements for accommodation for the remaining duration at their own expense.

  • Eligibility Criteria: Undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. students from NTU with backgrounds in science-related fields are eligible to participate in the internship.

Final admission results will be communicated by the University of Chicago.
