A highly qualified human rights expert and researcher with over 30 years of international experience working for international NGOs, intergovernmental organisations, public and private universities, research institutes and think-tanks. Accumulated vast administrative, financial, regulatory, staff management and internationalisation proficiency having served different leadership roles at various organisations. Well-networked in the Asia-Pacific region and well-exposed to diverse staff and bureaucratic cultures while working full-time in Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. Continues to serve as an international expert to advisory boards, editorial committees, interview panels, grant review boards, and government agencies and as an external reviewer to programmes of international NGOs and intergovernmental organisations.
As Regional Director of Asia Centre, Dr Gomez provides the strategic vision and direction for the Centre’s research projects. Overseas the human rights programme examines the effectiveness of national and international human rights protection mechanisms such as NHRIs and the UPR as well as regional mechanisms such as AICHR. Manages three groups of people comprising the Advisory Board, Centre Associates and the Management Team. The Advisory Board is made up of a panel of international academics that provide advice on the strategic direction of the Centre’s programmes. Centre Associates are experts in their field of speciality, whom the Centre draws on to execute or deliver selected activities. The day-to-day operations of the Centre are handled by the Management Team. Familiar with all aspects of Thailand’s financial, immigration and reporting obligations. Responsible for donor management and fundraising.
His thematic experience includes Human Rights;Freedom of Religion or Belief; Freedom of Expression; Freedom of Assembly and Association; Electoral Manipulation and Integrity.

The programme gives interns the opportunity to work in a dynamic and international team, where you will gain real work experience in preparation for a future job. Interns are assured of excellent mentorship from our directors and staff on the implementation of projects. They are also exposed to various tasks in communications, partnership development and research, thereby giving them a strong professional foundation and an integrated experience.
Interns will undertake research, conduct interviews and surveys, draft notes, and reference content. Interns will also compile and draft information for book manuscripts, baseline studies, reports, project proposals, media commentaries and website write-ups.

Interns will design and upload content onto the Centre’s website and social media platforms as well as offline promotional materials, maintain an active mailing list and administer surveys. They will also draft and send media advisories and press releases and liaise with journalists. Interns will design the branding material for the Centre’s events, publications, and social media content. Interns will assist in implementing the Centre’s events.
