Jan Fischer first came to Taiwan in 2016 for summer internship organizing summer camps focusing on United Nation’s SDGs for young Taiwanese individuals. Jan fell in love with Taiwan right away and started exploring ways to come back. He decided to apply for university and do his Master’s degree over in Taiwan. After successfully graduating, he decided to stay in Taiwan and learn some Mandarin. Once the Covid-19 pandemic started, it became very difficult for foreigners to stay in Taiwan. The only option for him at that time was to apply for working holiday visa. So he did. This visa allows people to do only certain type of jobs so he ended up working at a night market in Kaohsiung. During this time the Czech and Taiwanese relations experienced a big boom and he soon realized that there are not many Czech experts that actually understand Taiwan on different levels. He has used his knowledge of local environment and started advising the Czech Senate. During this time an opportunity to represent the Czech business in Taiwan presented itself and he did not hesitate to take up on this challenge. Since 2020, he has been representing the Czech business in Taiwan as well as the Taiwanese businesses in the Czech Republic via the Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber.
The Taiwan Office is responsible for exploring new opportunities for cooperations between the Czech and Taiwanese businesses while also monitoring and overlooking the ongoing cooperations.
