Peter Barbosa (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2002. From 2001 to 2003, he was the Technical Director with the Center for Power Electronics Systems, Virginia Tech. In 2003, he was with the ABB Corporate Research, Switzerland, as a Scientist, and later was a Manager with the Power Electronics and System Applications Group. During his time at ABB, he focused on developing innovative multilevel power converters for high-power applications by introducing novel hybrid multilevel power conversion concepts. Since 2008, he has been associated with Delta Electronics, initially in Taiwan, where he was on developing high-efficiency telecom power supplies and later heading medium-voltage drive product development. He is currently a Senior Director with the Milan Jovanovic Power Electronics Laboratory, USA.
