The R&D department at Bellwether Industries serves as the driving force behind our unwavering commitment to pioneering innovation in urban air mobility. The team consists of experienced engineers and industrial designers with diverse backgrounds, putting effort at the forefront of cutting-edge advancements. Our internship programme offers students a unique opportunity to cultivate their ideas without constraints and conceive solutions to optimize to the design of flying vehicles.

Internship Job Description

As an intern of the R&D team, your responsibilities will encompass a dynamic range of tasks, including active participation in collecting and analysing research data for the specific project and software development. In addition, you will contribute significantly to examining the current landscape and future trajectory of technologies in the UAM industry. We believe our flying vehicle, Volar, holds great promise for future transportation. In the Bellwether, your responsibilities include developing the 3D flying infrastructure software system, including key features such as flight planning and traffic management. Every dedication and contribution will be key drivers of innovation within our company, impacting the future of urban air mobility.

Preferred Intern Education Level

Undergraduate students (third year and above)
Master students

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

Have taken computer structure& organization and software design courses or equivalent classes
Experience in numerical analysis (knowing finite volume and traffic flow theory will be a plus)
Experience with optimization and operation logistics design
Experience in path planning algorithms (a* or RRT) and/or reinforcement learning
Experience in drone operations or multi-object deployment algorithm
Familiarity with Unity or other equivalent 3D simulation software/packages, Hugging Face, and Gradio
Have experience in human-computer interaction-related research or projects
Gain confidence in a comprehensive knowledge of engineering techniques, including engineering design methodologies
Willing to leverage generative AI tools to improve or assist engineering
Familiar with Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operational Research, Applied Maths or relevant field
Must have taken object-oriented programming, data structures & algorithms courses or equivalent classes
Familiar with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C, C++, JavaScript, Java (Python is preferred)
Familiarity with Github
Passionate, innovative, and willing to take on challenges
Excellent communication skills in both Mandarin and English
The ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise in a fast-paced and challenging environment
With a teamwork attitude and a detail-oriented organised mindset
Willingness to learn the knowledge and skills listed in the Preference section
