Internship Job Description

As an R&D Intern, you will play a key role in advancing the development of next-generation eVTOL and UAV technologies. Your responsibilities will include assisting with research coordination, data analysis, and contributing to the design and implementation of flight control systems and ground station interfaces. You will also help develop 3D flight infrastructure software, focusing on critical functions such as flight planning and traffic management within the urban air mobility (UAM) domain.

Working closely with our engineering team, you will engage in modelling, simulation, and verification using MATLAB/Simulink, and participate in embedded control system integration and performance optimization. Every contribution you make will help drive innovation in intelligent mobility and shape the future of aerial transportation.

Preferred Intern Education Level

Undergraduate students (third year and above)
Master students

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or current student) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Coursework or project experience in control system design, dynamic simulation, embedded systems, or mechatronics integration.
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for control simulation and performance analysis.
Experience in embedded control development or hardware prototyping is a plus.
Basic understanding of hardware integration, circuit operation, and sensor–actuator applications.
Familiarity with UI/HMI development or related design experience is preferred.
Drone operation licence or flight experience is a strong plus.
Passionate about UAV or eVTOL technology, with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English.
Team-oriented, with a strong desire to optimise processes and solve problems collaboratively.

Internship Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our team in developing next-generation technologies for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) systems. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of scalable, high-performance infrastructure that powers intelligent flight control, data analytics, and mission simulation capabilities.

At Bellwether, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop backend services, integrate third-party systems, and support real-time communication protocols. Your responsibilities will include building RESTful APIs, creating automated testing frameworks, optimizing data queries and task pipelines, and writing clean, maintainable code that adheres to modern development practices.

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

Currently enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI.
Solid experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
Working knowledge of containerization using Docker.
Familiarity with testing frameworks such as PyTest and version control using Git.
Basic understanding of asynchronous and event-driven programming.
Familiarity with cloud deployment and Linux server environments.
Experience with geospatial tools such as OSMnx, Shapely, and pgRouting.
Experience with MAVLink, drone communication protocols, or IoT systems.
Familiarity with DevOps workflows.
Exposure to frontend development or mobile integration is a plus, but not required.
Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is a strong plus.
Clear and proactive communicator, able to convey technical details effectively to both team members and stakeholders.
Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.
Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to work with a diverse team.
