Working in Britain was very different from Taiwan, especially the tea culture. Here, it is common to take a tea or coffee break in the morning and have afternoon tea as well. The tea room serves as an important social space where we can interact with people from different countries, not only those native to Britain but also from places like Brazil, Portugal, North America, and Africa. This diversity is particularly notable at Kew, where many people from around the world come to conduct research. These gatherings provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn about different research projects and methodologies and shared different culture.
