Can I apply for the 2025 NTU Overseas Internship Program if I expect to graduate in June 2025?

All of the participants are required to enroll in the summer course "Summer Internship". You could still join the program and return to Taiwan in September to graduate and finish the leave school process.

Do I need to submit the certificate of English proficiency?

A certificate of English proficiency is not required to apply for the internship. However, if you have one, please feel free to upload it as a supplementary document.

Please note that some countries may require a certificate of English proficiency for a visa.

If I need to apply for the visa, do I need to pay the fee?

You need to pay the visa fee by yourself. Even if the host organization sponsors your visa, you might still need to pay the visa application fee.

Who is the audience (reads them) for my motivation letter?

The organization will carefully review your motivation letter to evaluate your qualifications, skills, and motivation for the position.

Who qualifies as economically disadvantaged students【經濟不利學生】?

Economically disadvantaged students are those who meet one or more of the following criteria:

1) Students who are citizens of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and from government-certified low-income households, low-to-middle-income households, or families undergoing hardships.

2) Students who are citizens of the Republic of China (Taiwan) whose total household income (including the income of the applicant, the applicant’s parents, spouse, children, unmarried siblings, married siblings who live with the applicant, and any grandparent registered in the same household or who live with the applicant) meets the following criteria:

a) Total annual income of NTD800,000 or less
b) Total annual income interest of NTD10,000 or less c) Total annual business income of NTD50,000 or less

3) Students who are not citizens of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and hold a certificate issued by the competent authorities of their country of nationality proving their economically disadvantaged, low-income, or tax-exempt status.

經濟不利學生為符合下列下一情況:

1、具中華民國國籍且領有政府核發低收入戶、中低收入戶及特殊境遇 家庭證明者。

2、具中華民國國籍且家庭總所得收入(包括申請人及其父母、配偶、 子女、未婚之兄弟姐妹、已婚且共同生活之兄弟姐妹、同一戶籍或 共同生活之(外)祖父母之收入)同時符合以下規定者:

(1)家庭總收入全年未超過新臺幣八十萬元。

(2)家庭利息所得全年未超過新臺幣一萬元。 (3)家庭營利所得全年未超過新臺幣五萬元。

3、非中華民國籍學生,持有國籍所在地政府機關當年度出具之清寒證 明、低收入戶證明或免繳稅證明者。

Do I need to pay to enroll in this program?

Application Fee (non-refundable) : NTD $1,000

Program Fee (non-refundable) : NTD $5,000

  • Once the students are admitted to this program, they will be charged NTD $5,000 program fee to participate in this program. The fee will be non-refundable unless the reason for cancellation is because of non-student-related factors.
  • If you are an economically disadvantaged student, the application fee and the program fee will be waived.

Credit Fee (Summer Internship):

Students are not required to pay the credit fee. If, however, students who meet one of the following conditions should pay a credit fee for this course.

  1. Students have already studied for more than four years in their undergraduate degree and are taking no more than 9 credits in the spring semester. 
  2. Students have suspended their studies in the spring semester.
How many positions can I apply for?

Students can apply for no more than 5 positions.

Is there an age limit to apply to the Overseas Internship Program?

No, there is no age limit to apply to the Overseas Internship Program. Please check the eligibility part on our website.

Where do I enroll for the course "Summer Internship"?

Students are NOT required to enroll by themselves, this will be done automatically by NTU OIA.

Can I choose not to enroll in "Summer Internship" course?

No. You are obligated to enroll in this course while joining this program

Can I engage in direct communication with the mentors or the organizations?

No. Before NTU proactively offers the connection, any contact between students, mentors and organizations is strictly prohibited. Since each organization is quite busy, NTU OIA is the contact person between students and the host organizations before the internship. Besides, this is also to ensure all students have a fair chance throughout the application process. If students are found to have initiated contact with any organization members, NTU OIA has the right to withdraw the students’ application from the entire program. 

Do I need five different CVs and motivation letters for each organization application?

Students are NOT required to write five separate CVs or motivation letters; however, you may do so if you wish to incorporate a message specific to each organization.

Am I required to write a report for the course?

Yes. As this is a NTU course, students will earn credits. At the end of the 12-16 weeks of the internship, students must produce a graded report detailing their learning experiences. Guidelines of this report will be sent to students in due time.

Can I apply to a program that is not related to my major?

Yes! One of the main goals of the Overseas Internship Program is to provide students with a wide range of internship placements across all sectors. If you fit the criteria for applying to a particular internship, you are more than welcome to apply.

What are my working hours?

Some expected working hours are stated in the job description. However, working hours for each intern vary, which might be negotiable between students, mentors and organizations within reasonable limits.

How will my performance be graded?

The final grade will be calculated by the mentors' evaluation of the students' performance (70%) and the students final report (30%). The students are subject to fail the course if they do not finish the internship.

Is accommodation provided for internships?

Accommodation is usually not provided. However, you might seek suggestions once you are accepted from the program and connected to the mentors.

Who do I request to fill out my department letter of recommendation?

Regardless of which degree student you are, each letter of recommendation must be signed by two individuals.

  • For undergraduate students, please ask both your mentor and department chairperson.
  • For graduate students, please ask both your thesis advisor and institute director. If you have not yet been assigned a thesis advisor, then it is fine to have your institute director sign the form twice.
Can I work for another company/organization while enrolled in the Overseas International Program?

Since the internship is a graded course, NTU OIA highly suggests students to pay full attention to this internship in order to perform well. However, if students have to take more than one internship, students should follow the VISA requirement in that country. 

How can I apply for the Certificate of Enrollment 【在學證明書】?

【線上申請】(1月底與7月底不適用)‍

  1. 在學證明申請網址:myNTU> 點選「登入 ePo」。
  2. 登入後,從左邊欄位中點選「在學證明」。
  3. 輸入您的英文護照姓名,然後點擊「列印在學證明」。

【紙本申請】至教務處臨櫃申請。

【Online Application】(except late-January and late-July)

  1. Log in myNTU website and click ePortfolio.
  2. Click “Sign-in” from the sidebar.
  3. Click “Certification of Enrollment”.
  4. Enter your English name in the form provided and click “Print the Certification of Enrollment” (Please enter your English name as shown on your student ID card).

【In-person Application】Apply it at the Office of Academic Affairs

Can I choose to extend the internship once the 12 weeks are over?

Yes. However, for the extended internship, students need to take all the responsibilities by themselves. NTU OIA will not be part of the process after the 12-week internship is over.

  1. Click the LINK to acquire the digital Official Full Academy Transcript in English OR
  2. ‍Apply for the printed version at the Office of Academic Affairs.

※ You must upload a FULL Academic Transcript in English up to date, which includes your registered courses in the 2024 Fall Semester.
※ If you are a first-year student at NTU, besides upload your Official Full Academic Transcript in English in NTU and your previous school/university.

Can I bring the printed version of the signed letter of recommendation to NTU OIA?

No. All materials for the application need to be uploaded digitally. Kindly double-check that you have everything scanned and uploaded before you submit the final application.

I didn’t get accepted; what’s next?

If you want feedback on why your candidacy did not follow through, please get in touch with us at ntuoip@ntu.edu.tw. We encourage students to continue applying to the NTU OIP in the upcoming years.

I was accepted into the Overseas International Program last year; can I apply again?

Yes, you can apply to the Overseas International Program if you still hold student status at NTU. However, the Summer Internship Course credits will only be counted once.

Can I contact any liaison or anyone from the host organizations for further information?

It is FORBIDDEN to contact any liaison or anyone from the host organizations directly before you are admitted by the host organization.

I received the scholarship last year; can I apply again?

Yes, you can apply for the scholarship as long as you apply for the OIP.
