Huld Signs ESA Contract to Develop Multicore Execution Platform

Quotation:

Huld is proud to announce the signing of a new contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the development of a Prototype Execution Platform (PEP) for multi-core processors.

This project, part of ESA’s GSTP Element 1 – Develop, Building Blocks Framework, marks a significant milestone for Huld in advancing onboard software capabilities for future space missions.

The 24-month initiative officially kicked off on 15 August 2025 and will focus on building a robust software platform compatible with LEON5 and RISC-V architectures, enabling scalable and partitioned execution across multi-core systems. The PEP will be developed in Rust, supporting both Time and Space Partitioning (TSP) and non-TSP configurations.

“This contract reflects our commitment to innovation and excellence in embedded space systems. We’re excited to contribute to ESA’s vision for dependable and scalable onboard computing.” – Dubravka Ilic, Director of Space at Huld

The project is expected to deliver a full software stack, including development plans, requirements specifications, design documents, validation reports, and demonstration applications.
