【ERM Department】*ERM stands for“Enterprise Risk Management”
ERM Department of ORIX Corporation is composed of 3 teams with 29 risk management professionals: Portfolio Risk [PR], Market and Liquidity Risk [MLR], and Operational Risk [OR]. Our mission is to capture, assess, and manage risks in a group-wide, systematic/effective and efficient way from neutral and independent perspectives, in cooperation with the specialized corporate divisions by risk type as well as relevant business segments/units. By visualizing the various risk data and reporting timely to the ORIX top management including developing and maintaining the comprehensive Dashboard, we are helping support them to make reasonable management decisions.
[PR]
-To capture, calculate, evaluate financial/ credit risk data to provide Dashboard for preventing/mitigating losses arising from deterioration in performance/bankruptcy of debtors, investees, facility operations
-To monitor risk indicators and evaluate the expected/unexpected losses of each business segment/unit
[MLR]
-To build methodology for risk assessment and monitor KRIs to provide Dashboard for preventing/mitigating losses arising from market fluctuations in interest rates and foreign exchange rates and shortfall arising from deterioration of financial and/or market condition
[OR]
-To oversee the incident reporting with losses/damages arising from non-financial risk matters (e.g., violation of laws/regulations, misconduct, cyberattack, disasters/accidents etc.)
-To provide the business with RCSA Program for supporting their self-risk assessment in risk recognition/control/action plans
Associate Intern is expected to learnfollowing items during the internship period.

-Participate in periodic/ad-hoc meetingswith experienced risk management professionals, with having Q&A session andexchanging opinions
-Conduct OJT (on-the-job-training) and somecase studies (details- TBD)
-Final presentation regarding what youlearned during the internship
Associate Intern is expected to support thefollowing risk management activities in each risk area:
【Portfolio Risk Team】
-Evaluate financial/credit risk
-Read monthly/quarterly dashboard for topmanagement
-Calculate probability of default and lossgiven default
-Calculate value at risk by analyzingfinancial statements and supplemental information
【Market and Liquidity Risk Team】
-Evaluate market/liquidity risks, togetherwith ORIX Treasury Department
-Conduct sensitivity and gap analysisregarding foreign exchange rates and interest rates
-Understand the stress test model of ORIX’sliquidity risk management
-Understand of KRIs monitoring
【Operational Risk Team】
-Check the incident reporting in risk leveland type escalated through the incident reporting system in accordance with theORIX Group Incident Management Rules
-Review the results of RCSA Program to helppreventing/mitigating inherent risks of the business, supporting operationalexcellence/business-process resiliency, and continuing efforts to cultivatestrong risk culture

【ORIX Hotel Management Corporation】
ORIX Group marked itsfull-scale entry into the real estate business in 1986 when it started a singledormitory lease business. In the 2000s, the real estate business was expandedfrom condominiums to office buildings, commercial facilities, and logisticsfacilities. It acquired results and extensive expertise in a wide range ofbusinesses. By adding its expertise in the real estate business as new value,ORIX Group continues to take on challenges in a variety of businesses withmaximum synergies among its real estate investment and development business,housing-related business, building construction and equipment-related business,real estate asset management business, and facility operation business.
This internship focuses onreal estate asset management business.We operate various facilities such as onsen hotels, city hotels, resort hotels,aquariums, and training centers with approaches unique to the ORIX Group. Whileproviding time for relaxation, we also contribute to regional revitalizationthrough operation with close ties to the community.
ORIX Hotel Management (OHM) is an operating companyfor the ORIX Group and operates a wide variety of Japanese-style inns, hotels,and training facilities across Japan. Centered on our own business brand ofJapanese-style inns and hotels, ORIX HOTELS & RESORTS, we also utilize ourhistory of operational expertise to provide business support to facilitiesoperated by other companies.

- Visit the facilities operated by OHM to participate in discussions withon-site teams, identify issues through firsthand guest experience, etc.
- Attend various meetings regarding facility related issues and the managementof procurement, systems and quality.

【Energy and Eco Services Business Headquarters】
The main businesses are renewable energy inJapan and overseas, electric power retail, energy-saving services, sale ofsolar panel and electricity storage systems, recycling and waste management,and resource recycling.
- In the domestic energy market, we aim toprovide high-value-added services as a one stop service provider of renewableenergy by combining multiple services including electric power retail andenergy saving as well as renewable energy, and by building a value chain thatcovers the development, operation, and sale of power sources.
- Internationally, we will use our strategicplatform to expand and diversify our portfolio. This will include expansioninto regions we do not yet serve, such as Europe and North America;diversification into power storage stations, offshore wind power generation,and other power sources; and development of next-generation energy. We willalso sell certain assets as part of our capital recycling program.
- In the domestic environmental market, ourstrengths include a broad array of recycling items, the establishment ofnetworks, and our high-added-value processing capabilities. We will step up thefurther expansion of our value chain toward a society that reuses and recycles.
There are three departments you canexperience in this internship related to energy and environmental business inJapan.
1. Business Development Department
- Strategic planning, business development,business investment, business management and electric power sale for allrenewable energy businesses in Japan.
- All renewable energy businesses includesolar, geothermal, wind and other types of energy.
2. Electric Power Business Department
- Developing power plants and procuringelectricity for electricity retail business.
- Management of power plants, supply anddemand management including forecasting of electric energy for electricityretail business.
- Development and operation of energystorage plant business
- Sales of energy-saving services
3. Eco Services Business PromotionDepartment
- Promoting initiatives towards therealization of a circular economy
Associate Intern is expected to learnfollowing items during the internship period.

- Understand renewable energy businessmarket overview and recent trends
- Understand ORIX’s solar, geothermal, windand other types of renewable energy business

- Experience strategic planning for new typeof renewable energy business creation
- Experience the actual workflow ofelectric power sales
【Electric Power Business Department】
- Understand electricity retail businessmarket overview and recent trends
- Understand ORIX’s electricity retailbusiness
- Experience actual workflow of developingand operating of power plants and energy storage plants
- Experience actual operation and workflowof procuring electricity including demand and price forecast, supply and demandplanning and monitoring, and electricity market bidding
*Electricity procurement market is similarto the stock market. The electricity market has players who want to sellelectricity and players who want to buy electricity, just like trading stocks.The price of electricity will change daily depending various factors such asfuture weather and temperature. Analyzing data to predict future supply anddemand is very important.
