With generous donations from Taiwan and collaborations with the Municipality of Reyhanli, the Taiwan–Reyhanli Centre for World Citizens (The Taiwan Centre), as the first of this kind, was built for improving the socio-cultural integration and inclusion between Syrians and Turkish locals.
The research of the Centre’s architectural program and site investigation started in 2016. The building construction began in April 2020 and was completed by September 2020. During the 4 years, Cho worked as a volunteer and was the first private donor of the Centre. Cho took on the role of Founding Director of the Centre, working in close collaborations with the Turkish government, NGOs, and the grassroots. He established an organizing team to select the beneficiaries fairly and transparently, in line with the vision and program of the Centre.
The Centre’s basic programs comprise:
Participating in the daily operations of the organization and supporting multiple ongoing projects. You will be involved in addressing refugee issues, children’s education and environmental sustainability. During your internship, under the guidance of CEO Cho and local department managers, you will gain insight into the day-to-day functioning of the organization. You will learn how to coordinate various aspects to ensure that both Turkish and Syrian refugees, particularly children, receive the necessary care and support for adaptation. Moreover, you will contribute to amplifying the refugee discourse, raising awareness on a global scale, and increasing attention to this critical issue.
In Reyhanli, apart from the daily operational tasks, there are still many issues we may not have noticed or could do better, and we're eagerly awaiting someone with ideals to come and make them a reality! Therefore, we encourage you to bring your own proposals to the interview. Any ideas you have are welcome. It's up to you to decide what you want to bring to the refugees through this internship and the ideals you want to pursue on this issue. We also welcome you to bring your expertise and skills to the local community, providing them with additional assistance beyond humanitarian concerns. You don't necessarily need an entirely new plan; you can also expand upon existing projects, such as children's education, environmental sustainability, or social marketing.
From June 10 to September 1, 2024 (adjustable at the discretion of the organisation)
