Internship Job Description

GR Japan is looking for an intern with a high-level of Japanese and English proficiency, and a demonstrated passion for public policy and politics. GR Japan always welcomes passionate students and individuals searching for internships with us. In this role you will build a firm foundation to a potential future career in government relations and public affairs.

We are looking for candidates with excellent academic ability who want to apply their knowledge to tackle real policy challenges that make a difference. We offer experience at the intersection of business and government, helping clients - world-leading multinational conglomerates, financial institutions, industry associations, civil society organisations, and non-profit organisations, etc. - to understand how to effectively interact with Japanese policy and government stakeholders.

Responsibilities of the intern include:

Public policy research and analysis, report writing, editing, and strategic development
Collaborating closely with project leaders in implementing strategic outreach and engagement plans with government officials, Diet members, media, and other key policy stakeholders
Liaising with colleagues to provide client satisfaction
Assisting in taking meeting minutes
Assisting in translations of client-related documents

Preferred Intern Education Level

Undergraduate students (third year and above)

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

A demonstrated passion for public policy and politics
Education or experience in public policy, political science, international relations or economics

Internship Job Description

At GR Korea, the intern will support the teams of consultants at various sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, environment, AI and advanced technology, and consumer goods. Teamed together with the seasoned experts, the intern will experience a full range of government relations, public affairs, and related services, including stakeholder and issue mapping, strategy development, narrative crafting, outreach support, and timely intelligence-gathering.

GR Korea is looking for an intern with demonstrated passion for public policy and politics, with a high-proficiency in English (TOEFL 110 or above) and preferably with some fluency in conversational Korean. S/he is expected to thrive in fast-paced, team-centred working environment, being willing and able to learn fast to help the team deliver professional materials about the complex and swiftly changing policy/political landscape of Korea and Taiwan.

Job descriptions:
- Conduct research on public policy, regulations, and key government stakeholders
- Draft and edit policy-related deliverables (Word, PPT) – issue & stakeholder mapping reports, engagement strategy documents, advocacy materials, and reference materials
- Monitor the latest policy and political developments related to the clients’ goals
- Assist translation of client-related documents
- Support the team in delivering client satisfaction (ad-hoc research, etc.)

Minimum qualifications:

High-proficiency in English (TOEFL 110 or above)
Ability to work in Seoul for 12 weeks (no remote work available)
Strong understanding of Taiwan politics and Taiwan policy making
Desires in learning about Korean policy and politics
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-centred working environment

Preferred qualifications:

Pursuing the Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, such as international relations, political science, or public administration/policy
Fluency in Korean (TOPIK Level 5 or above, not mandatory)
Prior work experience in strategic consulting, governmental institutes, or international organizations
