Bachelor in Finance
The friendliness and sincerity of the people in Hawaii always made me feel welcomed and respected, allowing me to quickly integrate into this land and live a truly carefree life. On the BYU–Hawaii campus, the Mormon culture also brought quite a bit of culture shock and fresh observations. Many students around my age—or even younger—were already married, balancing their studies with running a family. This was miles apart from the values I was accustomed to, making me realize that in another corner of the world, people live in such fundamentally different ways. Before coming to Hawaii, I thought Aloha was simply a greeting. After leaving Hawaii, I understood that Aloha is far more than a word of hello. It represents a deep philosophy of love, peace, empathy, and respect for life, binding oneself closely to others, the land, and the ocean.
