Department of Information Management
My main project during the internship was to help design and develop AquaBaan.Farm, a system intended to support fish farms. Coming from an information technology background, aquaculture was initially unfamiliar, requiring me to study how the company utilizes water quality, biomass, and feed data before architecting the system. My mentor gave me high-level directions rather than rigid steps, expecting me to research the problem, design the features, and implement the system independently. This was a major shift from school, where problems are neatly defined. I learned to gather scattered information, distinguish critical needs from secondary details, and turn ambiguity into concrete plans. The experience proved that real-world problem-solving requires foundational learning agility: understanding unfamiliar domains, thinking one step ahead of general instructions, and taking full ownership of end-to-end execution.
