Bachelor in Political Science
The whole trip gave me a great lift in my thinking, allowing me to look at real social issues and come up with comprehensive solutions. Moreover, by interacting with local people, I learned new ways of thinking that I never had before. During the trip, my classmate and I chatted with a Japanese man we met at a public bath. After talking to him, we were surprised to find out that he is the manager in charge of overseeing all of Pasona Group's restaurants on the island. He communicated with us in simple Japanese and shared his connection to Taiwan, his views on human relationships, and his philosophy on running restaurants. He emphasized the importance of freshness in food, stating that his restaurants only use local ingredients from that specific area. This was my very first time having a face-to-face conversation with a native Japanese speaker since I started learning the language. I really treasure this exchange. It made me realize that speaking is a crucial part of language learning. Learning how to organize and express my inner thoughts appropriately depending on the situation has now become my new direction for studying Japanese in the future.
