During my internship at Inditex in Arteixo, I worked on applying machine learning to analyze physical store behavior worldwide, creating profiles to identify similarities. I used a pre-trained model to extract embeddings, classifying stores into three groups. The data analytics team was mostly local professionals close in age, highlighting a regional talent gap that brought in Asian interns like me. The flexible, dynamic work environment encouraged casual interaction, and the long Spanish lunch breaks were a cultural adjustment for me. The Welcome Day was memorable, where I saw the fast design-to-production process and learned about Inditex’s sustainability efforts and global logistics. Outside projects, I enjoyed local farmers’ markets and online Spanish classes, improving my language skills. This internship helped me grow professionally by applying deep learning in retail and gave me valuable cultural insights. It showed me how AI can be practical and impactful while adapting to new environments and cultures.
