Working as a CEO Office Intern at Yuanta Securities Korea, I rotated through eight departments across front- and middle-office functions. One of the most important lessons I learned was how multinational companies manage the relationship between headquarters and overseas subsidiaries in a highly regulated financial industry. Products available in one market may not be offered in another due to local regulatory compliance. Headquarters must build trust with local teams and empower them based on their direct understanding of local market nuances, rather than assuming domestic practices can be directly applied abroad. For those bridging the gap between headquarters and subsidiaries, it is essential to understand both parties' interests, communicate effectively, and continuously align local initiatives with broader corporate objectives. This rotation helped me develop a truly cross-cultural and cross-functional perspective on corporate governance.
