During the internship, I was embedded in the Industrial Laser Applications Department, specifically within the newly established Space Team led by Senior Researcher Jan Vanda. Formed approximately a year ago, the Space Team represents HiLASE’s frontier initiative to integrate laser technologies into space-borne and dual-use applications. The unit focuses on Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 6, with the ambition of acting as a testing and validation hub for European Space Agency (ESA) programs. Key strategic pillars include AI-based data processing, laser tracking, and space debris remediation. The team's long-term objective is to establish a recognized position as a validated subsystem provider in the European space ecosystem by 2030, supporting higher-TRL system integrators. During my internship, I operated fundamentally as an independent R&D researcher rather than a conventional intern. Leveraging my background in physical chemistry and current master’s research in physics.
