To conclude, this is a trip that I will never forget because of the kindness I received from the locals and their positive spirit toward life. And especially the people on the island who stand firmly alongside their community, who are unafraid to embrace their own identity and share what they are proudest of with the world. This, to me, is the aloha spirit. A kind of energy I hope to slowly cultivate, carry with me wherever I go. Finally, I want to recall a slogan shared with us at the Polynesian Cultural Centre, “One Ohana sharing Aloha.” Looking back on the experience, I think I now understand the message it seeks to convey. It means that no matter where you are from or what culture you were raised in, everyone is family. And everyone shares the responsibility to be kind to the people they meet.
