The experience also made me more comfortable with uncertainty. In my previous research experience, I often wanted to have a clear answer before presenting an idea to others. At UCLA, however, I became more willing to discuss incomplete ideas, preliminary results, and even questions that I had not yet figured out myself. This taught me that research is fundamentally a process of exploration. Not knowing the answer is not necessarily a weakness; knowing how to formulate the uncertainty into a meaningful research question can itself be an important research skill.
