Beyond our primary research directives, we contributed to an external public humanities collaboration focusing on curatorial planning for an upcoming exhibition at the Kaohsiung Museum of History. In partnership with Kew and the museum, this project explores the natural history of botanical collection through the human stories connecting Taiwan and Kew. Our role included proposing candidate physical artifacts, selecting high-value digitized botanical illustrations. Working within a globally recognized scientific institution provided valuable insights into the organizational culture and operational philosophy of UK research environments. From our first week, Kew treated us not as temporary support staff, but as full-fledged professional colleagues, extending equal access to institutional resources, facility privileges, and academic networks. A distinct feature of the workplace culture was the emphasis on structured communication and well-being.
