During my internship, my research focused on a special fungal structure known as hyphal cords. My mentor and I often had to design our own experiments and develop new research strategies. We spent a great deal of time reading papers from different research fields, discussing possible approaches, and testing new ideas. Working with researchers and students from different backgrounds changed the way I viewed scientific collaboration and professional communication. Beyond improving my research skills, I also became more confident in communicating with people from different cultures and discussing ideas in an international environment. More importantly, this experience strengthened my passion for scientific research and confirmed my desire to pursue an academic career in the future. My time at Kew also showed me the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and international scientific exchange.
