As a mechanical engineering student, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to participate in an animal necropsy. It was a completely new experience that challenged me to observe carefully, think critically, and support every conclusion with evidence. Before the course, I thought tracking simply meant recognizing footprints, but I quickly learned that it involves much more than that. Before this trip, I thought wildlife conservation was mainly about protecting animals. However, after learning about the baboon program, I realized that conservation is also about finding ways for humans and wildlife to coexist. This experience completely changed my perspective on what wildlife conservation really means. Whenever I had difficulty understanding a medical term or anatomical structure, my classmates patiently explained it to me. Their willingness to help reminded me how valuable interdisciplinary collaboration can be and how much we can learn from people with different expertise.
