Through practical simulations, I learned how to search a crime scene step-by-step, properly document evidence without contamination, and prepare accurate testimonies for court proceedings. I was particularly struck by how easily crucial evidence could be compromised and how even the slightest oversight could alter the reconstruction of a case. These exercises underscored that wildlife conservation is not merely a biological issue, but an intricate legal and forensic endeavor. Overall, this traineeship dramatically expanded my understanding of the deep interconnections between veterinary medicine, wildlife conservation, forensic science, and environmental justice. Before joining, I viewed conservation primarily through the lens of protecting species and natural habitats. Today, I understand that impactful conservation demands forensic rigor, legal framework, advanced research, animal rehabilitation, and cultural humility. This experience has not only equipped me with practical skills but also reshaped my vision for my future career as a veterinarian addressing real-world environmental challenges.
