My experience in South Africa provided me with perspective in addition to information. It forced me to look beyond myself and gauge success not just by my own accomplishments but also by how much my actions advance society. It strengthened my conviction that the fight for justice and education needs to be inextricably linked, and that everyone has a duty to safeguard the environment and all of its inhabitants.
