At Learning Robots, I worked primarily on software integration across several robotics platforms — AlphAI, LegoSpike, and Thymio. If I had to give myself a title, it would be 'software integration engineer.' What was genuinely difficult was requirements understanding: with only three months on the ground, I had to quickly learn to interpret my supervisor's intentions, the deployment context, and end-user needs well enough to translate them into working systems. Over the course of the internship, I independently handled integration work connecting the different robot platforms into a coherent software stack, debugged hardware-software communication issues that had been blocking the team, and helped streamline workflows using AI-assisted tooling. I came away convinced that this kind of 'plug-and-play' adaptability — being able to walk into an unfamiliar technical environment and become productive quickly — is an increasingly essential skill.
