Throughout my time spent on Awaji island, I had met interesting people, engaged in meaningful conversations, explored the stunning landscapes, and learned about the many projects and efforts dedicated to revitalize the region. There is so much more I couldn’t cover in my essay–astounding architectures designed by Ando Tadao and the complex issues surrounding Yumebutai, history of Izanagi Jingu, and the trauma as well as reconstruction efforts after the Hanshin earthquake.
