Seeing the complex social interactions of these primates in their natural habitat while learning about the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the region was eye-opening. It was a moment of intense "recharging" for my passion for life sciences. The curriculum was rigorous and fascinating, covering critical issues such as the illegal wildlife trade, smuggling routes, and the technicalities of crime scene management. Learning how to process a simulated wildlife crime scene—identifying evidence, maintaining the chain of custody, and understanding the legal frameworks of forensics—bridged the gap between biological theory and legal practice. It highlighted the multidisciplinary nature of modern conservation, showing that protecting a species requires not just biological knowledge, but also forensic precision and legal integrity. This experience has solidified my commitment to the field of ecology and has given me the tools to think more critically and globally about the future of our planet’s biodiversity.
