During my internship at IBM Research, I have been working on improving the efficiency of AI inference, in terms of both speed and energy, while trying to preserve the best possible model performance. Most of my work concerns how to adapt and deploy models that were originally developed and optimized for conventional digital computing systems onto analog AI hardware. I have had many chances to explain my work and receive feedback from researchers with different areas of expertise. The internship has not only been a professional experience. Living in California for several months gave me the chance to experience a completely different lifestyle. Looking back on the internship so far, I feel I have gained much more than technical knowledge. I have learned about AI hardware and efficient inference, improved my programming and research skills, become more confident presenting technical ideas in English.
