Bachelor in Anthropology
Under Leslie and Mel's leadership, Xela AID has empowered numerous individuals from San Martín Chiquito. Many of these locals return to serve the community after earning their college degrees, taking roles as nurses, cooks, teachers, or administrators. Today, Xela AID is run primarily by local residents, successfully fostering both education and employment in the community. The most powerful thing is that Xela AID built a mature environment and made them want to come back home and even become teachers at Xela AID. Most importantly, this journey has made me a better, kinder, and more generous person. I hope to carry these values with me and treat everyone I meet in the future with the same compassion and generosity.
