My main role was basically being a translator and interpreter of Taiwan for an organization that has no easy access to it. A big part of my job was gathering and combining that information into suggestions — what industries are growing, which companies are related, and whether we actually have an advantage approaching them. Part of that also meant catching things that would have been easy to get wrong, like flagging that a company listed under "optical communication" was actually doing RF work, not laser photonics at all. My most memorable moments weren't really about the work itself, but the environment and the colleagues. Everyone here has been welcoming and sweet, with genuinely warm smiles. One time some colleagues offered me a ride and we talked the whole way there, I really enjoyed building that kind of connection.
