One of the most valuable lessons came from our visit to The Ritz-Carlton, Turtle Bay. I was impressed by their strong attention to detail and their philosophy of taking care of as many things as possible so that guests can simply enjoy their stay. A story they shared especially touched my heart. What moved me was that the hotel had already fulfilled its responsibility simply by finding and returning the toy. Everything beyond that was an extra effort. Yet that extra effort transformed a lost toy into a memorable story. Our visit to PCC gave me another perspective, particularly on cultural preservation. However, PCC showed me that culture can also be preserved by making it part of people's present experiences. Through the different villages, activities, performances, stories, crafts, and food, visitors could experience different Polynesian cultures. This helped me learn the idea of “living culture.
