As a veterinarian working in forensic pathology, I found the forensic courses useful for seeing how my work may contribute to a larger investigation. During the Crime Scene Management and Documentation exercise, I realized that searching for evidence was actually very time-consuming. The Moot Court was my first time participating in a simulated courtroom. It helped me understand what prosecutors consider when preparing a case, how witnesses may be questioned, and how forensic findings should be explained clearly. This exercise may help me communicate more effectively if I need to testify in court in the future. Before this trip, I used to refer to most antelope species simply as “antelope.” I can now distinguish animals such as springbok, gemsbok, eland, and kudu. The program gave me a broader perspective on the relationships among wildlife, people, law, and conservation.
