Participating in the intensive Awaji Island study workshop in late June 2026 offered a profound empirical lens to re-examine the complex structural dynamics of regional revitalization, moving far beyond the abstract, surface-level vocabulary of classroom discourses such as "population decline," "industrial transformation," and "youth return". By observing the comprehensive, multifaceted involvement of the Pasona Group throughout the island over a seven-day period, this field study revealed a unique paradigm shift in how local development can be organized. Rather than operating merely as an external private investor seeking profit maximization, Pasona has assumed the role of a holistic "place-maker". The corporation has deeply woven its institutional resources into the very fabric of local life, synchronizing diverse initiatives—ranging from agricultural experiences and hospitality venues to advanced technology laboratories, wellness centers, and youth cultivation programs—into a unified, mutually supportive regional ecosystem.
