Through this experience, I learned that successful research training depends as much on adaptability and preparation as on technical execution. I realized the importance of starting early when seeking research placements, while also staying flexible when projects shift due to experimental realities. In the lab, I gained firsthand insight into how setbacks and project changes are a normal part of scientific work, and how they can ultimately lead to better alignment with one’s skills and interests. Beyond research, actively engaging with academic, social, and extracurricular opportunities greatly enriched my experience. Most importantly, this internship helped me reflect on my long-term goals and strengthened my interest in pursuing a PhD and a research-oriented career.
