Master in Plant Pathology and Microbiology
Starting my 3-month internship at CRAG in Barcelona was my first time living abroad and working in a research institution. Living alone was challenging, I had to learn cooking and adapt to shared accommodation, which helped me become independent and confident. CRAG, though smaller than other European centers, impressed me with its advanced facilities and international, friendly atmosphere. I worked in Ana I. Caño-Delgado’s lab, focusing on how the brassinosteroid receptor BRL3 influences plant drought resistance. I learned lab techniques like genotyping, GUS staining, confocal microscopy, Co-IP, and Western blotting. The supportive lab environment, especially working with Azahara, enriched my experience both scientifically and socially. Outside work, I enjoyed team lunches, volleyball, rock climbing, and celebrating birthdays, building meaningful friendships. As my internship nears its end, I feel grateful for the growth, knowledge, and cultural awareness gained, which have prepared me for future academic and professional challenges.
