Asia Centre is a civil society research institute in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC).
The Centre’s core activities involve research, training, advocacy and media initiatives, having its programmatic priorities on four key constitutional liberties as enshrined in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR): freedom of religion or belief (Article 18), freedom of expression (Article 19), freedom of association (Article 20) and the right to political participation (Article 21).
Asia Centre collaborates with civil society organisations, developmental aid agencies, diplomatic missions, government institutions, international non-governmental organisations, UN agencies to advance the cause of democracy and human rights.
It operates from its AI Hub and Research Hub in Bangkok (Thailand), Media Hub in Johor Bahru (Malaysia) and Training Hub in Phnom Penh (Cambodia).
Asia Centre’s Internship Programme offers a well-rounded experience in a not-for-profit organization. The programme gives interns the opportunity to work in a dynamic and international team, where you will gain real work experience in preparation for a future job. Interns are assured of excellent mentorship from our directors and staff on the implementation of projects. They are also exposed to various tasks in communications, partnership development and research, thereby giving them a strong professional foundation and an integrated experience.
Interns will undertake research, conduct interviews and surveys, draft notes, and reference content. Interns will also compile and draft information for book manuscripts, baseline studies, reports, project proposals, media commentaries and website write-ups.

Interns will design and upload content onto the Centre’s website and social media platforms as well as offline promotional materials, maintain an active mailing list and administer surveys. They will also draft and send media advisories and press releases and liaise with journalists. Interns will design the branding material for the Centre’s events, publications, and social media content. Interns will assist in implementing the Centre’s events.

Interns will support in the organising of seminars, workshops, and conferences, including online events by contributing to all logistical arrangements. They will be responsible for developing events’ concept notes and programmes and reaching out to speakers and participants.
