Impact Hub Kathmandu is a female-led Nepali not-for-profit organization started after the 2015 Nepal earthquakes under the premise that a disaster can be a catalyst for innovation. It has evolved into an accessible, safe and inclusive innovation-led community Hub. The Hub is designed to give innovators, entrepreneurs, activists, artists and change-makers a creative space to meet, work, network and learn, while harnessing new ideas to help address social and environmental challenges. Impact Hub Kathmandu is a part of a global network of 100+ Impact Hubs in over 60 countries, working across disciplines, acting across sectors, with amazing people putting ideas into action.
Experience and Competencies
Business Incubator: It provides business, financial and technical support services to impact driven Nepali entrepreneurs and businesses. Business ideation, incubation and pre-acceleration services are provided to Nepali early stage startups and MSMEs through customized Business Incubator Programs and link enterprises to finance. We believe that the process is as important, if not more so, than the product and service. Following is a summary of experiences related to the business - entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nepal:
Fab Lab Nepalis a collaborative centre for innovation, invention, education and humanitarian outreach and a fully equipped digital fabrication workshop at Impact Hub Kathmandu. It provides access to knowledge, tools, and resources that bring ideas from heads to hands and champions ‘making’ as a means of empowering the people of Nepal regardless of their gender, social status, ability or economic means. Access to FabLab will help the participants in this action to prototype, test and iterate their ideas.
The Impact Hub Kathmandu team includes expertise ranging from business innovation, sustainability, leadership, business and financial coaching, human-centred design and research, international development, psychology, finance and engineering. As a result, our team leverages its interdisciplinary academic and professional backgrounds to design high quality programs through continuous learnings and feedback from young innovators, business coaches and diverse stakeholders including private and public sector partners. Our team consists of 5 Board of Directors (3female); 3 Leadership Team Members (2 female); 18 Employees (10 female); with over 50% female representation across the organization.
The Finance Department plays a vital role in ensuring the organization's financial stability, accountability, and efficient use of resources. It is responsible for managing financial planning, budgeting, accounting, payments, billing, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records. The department also works closely with program and operations teams to develop and monitor project budgets, process financial transactions, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. By supporting sound financial management and coordination, the Finance Department enables the organization to effectively implement its programs and achieve its strategic objectives.
The Finance Department Internship provides interns with practical exposure to the financial and administrative functions that support organizational operations and programs. Throughout the internship, interns will work closely with the finance team and gain a basic understanding of financial processes, budgeting, and coordination in a professional environment.
Interns will be guided through key areas such as financial record-keeping, budget preparation and monitoring, program budgeting, payment scheduling, billing, invoice processing, and expense tracking. They will also learn how financial activities are coordinated across different projects and departments to ensure smooth operations and compliance with organizational procedures.
In addition, interns will support routine finance and administrative tasks, assist with maintaining financial documentation, and observe how budgets are managed throughout the lifecycle of programs. This internship offers an opportunity to understand the connection between finance and program implementation while developing essential organizational, analytical, and coordination skills.
By the end of the internship, interns will have gained foundational knowledge of finance operations, budgeting processes, payment management, and financial coordination, preparing them with practical skills and experience that can be applied in future roles within finance, administration, or project management.

The Program department works in 2 different verticals; Business Incubation and Impact Academy. Business Incubation supports entrepreneurs, startups, and MSMEs in transforming innovative ideas into sustainable and impact-driven enterprises through tailored incubation programs. Participants receive access to mentorship, masterclasses, one-on-one coaching, technical assistance, financing opportunities, and a diverse network of industry experts and peers, helping them strengthen business models, improve market readiness, and scale their impact. Impact Academy is Impact Hub Kathmandu’s capacity-building platform that empowers individuals and communities through experiential learning and Human-Centred Design approaches. The Academy delivers training, leadership development, and skills-building programs that foster innovation, inclusive growth, and transformative leadership, equipping changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to create meaningful social and environmental impact.
Support the implementation of entrepreneurship, innovation, and capacity-building programs at Impact Hub Kathmandu. The intern will assist in coordinating incubation activities, training programs, stakeholder engagement, research, event management, and program documentation while gaining hands-on experience in startup ecosystems, social innovation, and impact-driven initiatives. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with entrepreneurs, changemakers, and ecosystem actors to contribute to sustainable and inclusive development initiatives.
Undergraduate Students

FabLab Nepal is a digital fabrication and innovation laboratory that supports individuals, startups, researchers, and organizations in transforming ideas into functional prototypes and innovative solutions. The department specializes in technical consulting, rapid prototyping, product development, digital fabrication, and design support. Equipped with advanced fabrication tools and technologies, FabLab Nepal provides expertise in areas such as 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, electronics, and product design. It also collaborates with entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and development partners to foster innovation, research, and problem-solving through technology-driven solutions, helping bring creative ideas from concept to reality.
The Technical Internship at FabLab Nepal offers interns practical exposure to digital fabrication, prototyping, product development, and technical innovation. Interns will work alongside the technical team to support projects that involve designing, building, testing, and refining prototypes while gaining hands-on experience with fabrication technologies and equipment.
Throughout the internship, interns will be guided in areas such as digital design, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, electronics, and basic machine operations. They will assist in preparing design files, operating fabrication equipment under supervision, assembling prototypes, conducting testing, maintaining documentation, and supporting technical consulting projects for startups, researchers, and partner organizations.
Interns may also contribute to innovation projects, research activities, workshops, and training sessions while learning how technical solutions are developed from concept to prototype. The internship provides valuable experience in problem-solving, design thinking, and the practical application of engineering and fabrication technologies.
By the end of the internship, interns will have developed foundational technical skills in digital fabrication, prototyping, equipment handling, and product development, while strengthening their analytical, creative, and collaborative abilities in an innovation-driven environment.
